Nail artists (professional and naturally talented) alike are extremely creative with their nail art and thankfully for us, they are not afraid to show it off! I am in love with the beautiful layering techniques of taking several types of polish, glazes and glitters and applying them in such a way that you end up with something that is truly art!
The first step is choosing your colors of course. Many nail designers will use outside inspiration for their nail themes. Fashion, TV, nature or even textures can create intense ideas for nailsperation. Sometimes you want to go with colors that compliment each other and are in the same color spectrum but sometimes you want a more eye popping look and you can go with super bright colors that set each other off.
Some of my favorites are the galaxy nails. Depending on the efforts of the designer, this look can look as deep and mysterious as the galaxies above. The look is achieved by layering up varying shades of colors (sometimes metallics) over a dark base coat. Sometimes artists use sponges or even tooth brushes to achieve the perfect starry look. The final design is deeply layered and simply stunning.
Sometimes, a simple design can be the most eye catching. Using tools as simple as a toothpick or a cotton swab can produce eye popping results. The key here again is creativity in your design.
Sometimes the magic comes from the polish. One of the craziest nail polishes I have seen is this magnetic polish that actually has tiny magnetic particles in it so that you can move the design around with a magnet! How crazy is that? Technology is amazing and inspiring.
Another cool polish is crackle polish! You get this look by applying color as usual (or sometimes multiple colors) and then applying a coat of crackle polish over the top. As the polish dries, you get the cracked look.
There are even different types of crackle polish. This one looks like a crocodile! So cool!
